Second Annual Gallinas Creek King Tide Tour March 8, 2016
King Tides are the highest tides of the year – some are almost 7 feet! This King Tide creek tour was done during a 6.3 foot tide.
A group of GWC members launched in kayaks and in the Gallinas Goddess canoe from a boat ramp on Vendola and head upstream (West) on the South Fork of Gallinas Creek.
The King Tides enables us to take our canoe and kayaks UNDER Highway 101! We did this on the Gallinas Creek South Fork near the Embassy Suites hotel:
Question: Where can you navigate open waters in Terra Linda, San Rafael, California EAST of Highway 101?
Answer: You can canoe under Highway 101 on both the North or South Fork of Las Gallinas Creek. Here’s Art and Alex on the South Fork of Gallinas Creek East of Highway 101:
There was quite a bit of trash on the creek that has been washed up by the high tides and we were able to gather some during our tour.
