World Wetlands Day

World Wetlands Day
Annual Event on February 2
February 2 marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on 2 February 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar on the shores of the Caspian Sea.

Each year since 1997, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and groups of citizens at all levels of the community have taken advantage of the opportunity to undertake actions aimed at raising public awareness of wetland values and benefits in general and the Ramsar Convention in particular.

American Wetlands Month
Annual Event in May
May is American Wetlands Month. The US Government EPA and its partners in federal, state, tribal, local, non-profit, and private sector organizations celebrate the vital importance of wetlands to the Nation’s ecological, economic, and social health.

LGVSD Wetlands Days

Every year during the month of May, Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District invites local 3rd grade students, teachers and parents to participate in a one day program that continues for three days to accommodate all the students called Wetlands Days.

Marin County Fair
Annual Event in July
Held annually at the Marin Civic Center, the award-winning Fair combines the red, white and blue of America’s history with the green of American’s future in sustainability by integrating environmental stewardship at the Fair.

EPA World Water Monitoring Day
Annual event September 18
Students and teachers, scouts, families, and others can get involved in local watershed activities between September 18 and October 18. Go out to your local stream, lake, bay or wetland and test a water sample for a few basic characteristics- dissolved oxygen, temperature, turbidity (water clarity) and pH. Order a monitoring kit, register your site, and report your data to the EPA website.

California Coastal Cleanup Day (CCD)

CCD is the highlight of the CA Coastal Commission’s year ’round Adopt-A-Beach program.

COASTWEEKS
Annual Event, three weeks from third Saturday of September
Celebration of coastal resources. Kick off is on Coastal Cleanup Day, when tens of thousands of Californians come together to keep our coasts and inland waterways free of debris.

Bioneers Conference
Annual Event in October
Held at the Marin Center, this event is a celebration of the most epic changemakers, innovators and visionary leaders who are turning breakdown into breakthrough

BAEER Fair
ANNUAL FAIR at Marin Civic Center with over 70 resources, workshops for educators and parents with interest in wildlife, ecology, adventure and more. Classroom materials, environmental education programs, field trip sites. Attend workshops introducing conservation and wildlife education, school gardens, and strategies for fostering environmental awareness! Specially designed for teachers, community educators, students.

EcoFair Marin
Annual community celebration to at Marin County Fairgrounds inspire a healthy and sustainable Marin.
