A few weeks ago, the latest Civic Center Watershed Restoration floating island biofilter was built and launched in the Marin Civic Center Lagoon.

This is the latest floating island biofilters that the Gallinas Watershed Council has launched at the Civic Center. The first two demonstration islands were launched in October 2015 during the annual Bioneers Conference.

Floating island biofilters help clean the lagoon water using biomimicry, This is where appropriate technology based on nature using native vegetation is used to clean water by removing excess nutrients and contaminants.
