Dixie Outdoor Classroom Club - teacher Debra DiBenedetto and 2nd grade class

Miller Creek and Gallinas Creek watersheds are interconnected, so it is fitting that the Gallinas Watershed Council has joined forces with the Miller Creek Watershed Stewards.

The result? Support and funding for a project at the Dixie Elementary School called the Dixie Outdoor Classroom Club.Yes, it’s really a class held outdoors – right next to Miller Creek!

Kids in the Dixie Outdoor Classroom Club learn about native plants. Then they get to do some hands-on volunteer restoration work at Miller Creek. They get to plant some natives plants and weed out invasive, non-native plants too.
