The best cleanup times are during King Tides. These highest tides of the year are almost 7 feet high! Feb 8 the tide reaches 6.7 Ft at 11:20 AM at Gallinas Creek.

Every year volunteers in kayaks and canoes pick up bags of trash. Recently the trash consisted of:

  • Plastic bottles
  • Plastic containers
  • Balls (all kinds!)
  • Styrofoam
  • Glass bottles

Location & Directions

Put in is at McInnis Boat Dock.
McInnis County Park is located at 310 Smith Ranch Rd, San Rafael.

From Hwy 101 in San Rafael take exit 456 for Smith Ranch Rd east approximately 0.7 mile. Drive over the railroad tracks into the park entrance at the end of Smith Ranch Rd. Boat dock is near parking on right side as you enter the park.

The trash on the creek that washes up by high tides is easier to gather during a King Tide.
