The Gallinas Watershed Council (GWC) and the Santa Venetia Neighborhood Association (SVNA) are cleaning-up Gallinas Creek on Coastal Cleanup Day.
RSVP to Join us Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at 1 PM at the McInnis Park boat dock!
Coastal Cleanup Day is an annual event in California and around the country. Everyone helps keep waterways and shorelines clean. Here in the Gallinas Watershed we venture out onto Gallinas Creek to access trash in marshy areas and creek banks. We have fun cleaning up the creek with canoes, kayaks and rowboats, pulling the trash out as we go.
Come and volunteer – with or without a boat! If you can ride in a kayak or canoe, you can help our Cleanup.
Why go out on the creek? We hope to get to hard to reach areas via canoe and kayak. A lot of trash is lodged in our marshes. Hard to see from a distance, but when you’re in the marsh, there’s trash everywhere.
Meet at 1 PM at McInnis Park boat dock. to align our cleanup with the high tide, which on Gallinas Creek is after 2 PM on the 21st(over 6 feet high).
