In October 2019 GWC volunteers together with our indigenous partners at the annual Bioneers Conference launched a 100% biological (no plastic or foam) Bio-Raft, currently tied near the Civic Center Lagoon dock. This new floating island biofilter was constructed of bamboo, cordage and willow branches.

GWC will be moving this bio-raft alongside the other newly launched floating island to compare and contrast their growth rates and ability to clean the water in that area.
