Local volunteers keep Gallinas Creek clean.
Ever been out on a King Tide Creek Cleanup?
The best cleanup times are during King Tides. These highest tides of the year are almost 7 feet! Sound like fun? Anyone with a kayak or canoe can help clean up Gallinas Creek.
King Tide Date and Time
Sun Jan 20 2019 from Noon to 2:00 PM.
We did it! The weather played along, rain fell just before and after our creek cleanup yesterday.
6 volunteers in kayaks and canoes picked up 8 bags of trash plus a dozen styrofoam blocks from docks.
The trash consisted mostly of:
- Plastic bottles
- Plastic containers
- Balls (all kinds!)
- Styrofoam
- Glass bottles
Location & Directions
Best place to put in is at McInnis Boat Dock. McInnis County Park is located at 310 Smith Ranch Rd, San Rafael.
From Hwy 101 in San Rafael take exit 456 for Smith Ranch Rd east approximately 0.7 mile. Drive over the railroad tracks into the park entrance at the end of Smith Ranch Rd. Boat dock is near parking on right side as you enter the park.
The trash on the creek that washes up by high tides is easier to gather during a King Tide.
